Trieste tide gauge is the oldest of the entire Adriatic area. The first observations started in 1859 and were carried out by the Imperial Regia Accademia di Commercio e Nautica. Trieste tide gauge is one of the longest in the world.
The tide gauge is located on Trieste shore in city center, hosted by the Yacht Club Adriaco. During the visit, Fabio Raicich, scientist at CNR ISMAR will introduce the history of the tide gauge from the early beginning to today and will explain how the tide gauge work. You will then be able to access and visit the tide gauge station.
In case of bad weather, the visit are maintained and the Yacht Club Adriaco will host the initial introduction in its main room.
