Discover Roman remains in snorkeling (Muggia)

September 10 @ 9:30 am - 3:30 pm

to be communicated soon

Located about 30 meters from the shore, in località Punta Sottile, about 1 meter depth, you can find a Roman wharf. It got submerged due to sea level rise during the Roman period. It is probably related to other Roman remains close by including a house, another wharf nearby towards Muggia, a necropoli, and a road. The wharf in Punta Sottile is 12 meters long and 2.5 meters wide and is made of an accumulation of big blocks of arenatic rock. To observe it, you just need a mask and a snorkel.

MEETING: Piazza Oberdan

REQUIREMENT: be able to swim and use snorkeling equipment

Fees include:

  • Briefing and visit at the archeological museum
